he is a tremendous guy full of life and laughter
originally from South Africa, Carl is getting ready to release his solo album

it was so much fun, and frickin' cold, hanging around Atlanta today getting some shots
the 16 degree weather made my fingers feel as though they were no longer there, but at least we were sharing the pain with others

shot gun holes in the walls, creepy doll head on ground with body stuck through the wall, hole in the roof which appeared to have been used as access to attic....

kind of cool for some shots though

Todd Briggs

so in my last post i mentioned how i would be sharing with all of you some of the people who i have in one way or another crossed paths with, and as a result, inspired me to be more than i am

first up is Todd.
i met Todd through an art fair he was hosting for his church which you can check out at:

Todd came to know the Lord as an adult before going in to back surgery (crazy, awesome story)
ever since then God has led him and his family on an amazing ride from residing in Ohio and being fully involved in the corporate world to becoming a church planting pastor in Atlanta

He has an amazing story, but even better, an amazing heart
It's so refreshing to sit down over coffee, Java Monkey seems to be our place of choice, and hear how Todd and his small community are being used by Christ to radically impact his community for His Glory

It's cool to hear how this community has embodied Christ in such a real way that many of the ones whose lives have been radically changed were once burned and fed up with the institution and religion of what we often like to call "church"
However, because of Todd's heart and the power of Christ, this community has figured out that church is something that you are and live out, not just some event or show that you go watch

so i think that i am going to start taking portrait pics of people who inspire me as i meet them and give you some details on what they are doing and why they inspire me.

be looking for those as i meet those people and am able to post about them
been booking some more weddings!...this is so crazy to me. God is answering prayers in amazing ways and i can't wait to see what He continues to do


anyways, this is bailey
she is in the high school group and was one of many helping us out for a shoot
i would show some of those, but we are saving those images for our 30 Hour Famine event at the end of February
i will put more from this shoot up then but for now here were some extra shots we were able to get

was finally able to take some shots with the 5D today...

i freaking love this thing...the detail is unbelievable
i was also able to try some new techniques and really like the outcome
these shots came out great and i can't wait to see what is yet to come

these two guys are in our middle school program....funny enough, they are both named Harrison

so you may remember some pics i took of a guy named Brett Younker

went out shooting for fun...haven't done that in too long

hopefully i can continue to get better at some of the techniques i have been trying lately
it's real easy to become comfortable with what you are used to....that goes with anything

i find myself needing to be challenged often with photography or it can become quickly boring...a new toy always makes it exciting again as well

had a great break in Chicagoland...spent it all with family due to the lack of time this year

I took engagement shots for Jenica's cousin Aubrey and her fiance Chris
we were in St. Charles, IL which has a really cool historic downtown area

thankfully it warmed up a bit to 35 so that we weren't too miserable
it was great shooting in a new location though, especially one that contained some snow
